A2MG, Inc. wins North American Copper in Architecture Award

KANSAS CITY – A2MG, Inc. has won the 2009 North American Copper in Architecture Award for New Construction, for its work on the Colorado College Cornerstone Arts Center located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The award is sponsored by the Copper Development Association and the Canadian Copper & Brass Development Association . The North American Copper in Architecture Awards recognize and promote North American building projects for their outstanding use of architectural copper and copper alloys. The Awards program showcases a wide range of projects, all of which highlight craftsmanship, attention to detail, and architectural vision.

A2MG was brought into the project early in the design phase, by members of Antoine Predock Architects. The result of the collaborative effort was a panel design and size that virtually eliminated material waste. In addition, the project architects were able to help in the formulation of the custom patina finish. The Arts Center reflects the essence of its location, complete with paths converging on and crossing the site, views toward Pike’s Peak, and an aspiration to the sky. Over 2500 custom 15” x 57”copper panels aid in connecting this vision to earth, in this complex and dynamic Antoine Predock design.

A2MG completed its portion of the project in April 2008.
