A2MG, Inc. completes work at new Sporting KC Stadium

KANSAS CITY, KS – Sporting KC played the first game in their new $147 million, state-of-the-art stadium last night and A2MG was a major contributor in its successful opening. A2MG was one of the main subcontractors on the project with a scope of work that included a translucent roof canopy, metal wall panels and perforated metal fins.
The 340,000 sq. ft. stadium seats 18,500 and includes 36 luxury suites. There are 300 HDTV’s, and a 2000 sq. ft. HD video board. The project was on an ultra-fast design and construction schedule with the owner’s desire to play a significant amount of the 2011 season at the new facility. The construction was completed within the 14 month schedule and according to the owner was built faster than any other soccer stadium in the country.
Some statistics for A2MG’s scope of work are as follows:
- 45,000 square feet of composite metal wall panels, with over 18 miles of extrusions and 12 miles of sub-girt
- 1600 lineal feet of concealed gutter
- Over 500 custom beam closures and 28,000 lineal feet of flashing and trim
- 22,000 square feet of custom perforated handrail, fence and gates
- 17,000 square feet of custom perforated ornamental metal fins
- 16,000 square feet of aluminum plate
- 53,000 square feet of translucent polycarbonate roof canopy
